Forget the Babble

I woke up this morning and could not get a scripture out of my head.  So I decided that maybe I should write about it. Problem is… I couldn’t remember where it was. So I searched and searched and could not find it. While I was searching, I read a scripture that I have read before but it never spoke to me like this. It is 2 Timothy 2:14-17 (ESV)

14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, 17 and their talk will spread like gangrene.

Wow! How guilty am I to get hung up on the little things about religiousity. The more we get hung up on denominational things, and not the things of importance, such as being a witness to  the life of Jesus Christ and why he came, the further we push people away from God and the church.

(verse 16). We have to do our best to show ourselves approved. How do we do this?? Read the Bible for ourselves, know the scriptures for what they are and where they are, spread the good news of Jesus Christ. (As a side note, the more you read the scriptures the more you fall in love with God… at least thats what has happened to me.)

Also this verse says “a worker who has no need to be ashamed.” If we truly do our best to show ourselves approved then we will have no reason to be ashamed before God.
